Musicologist Alan Lomax came to Scotland in 1951 and, along with Calum MacLean and Hamish Henderson, set about collecting songs and tunes from as far and wide as time allowed.
The selections here come from Aberdeenshire and the Hebrides and feature artists that have, since that time, gone on to become THE backbone of almost ALL traditional music in Scotland.
