FIRST HEARING:
A choral version of the Dashing White Sergeant reaaly gets us off to a lilting start, thereafter the moods are as mixed as any song album.
The earliest recording comes from 1910, the 'latest' is the first, from 1951, a mere 54 years ago.
The first (again!) has no accompaniment, 4 have piano and the rest have orchestral. All good professional productions.
