Deeply rooted in the old Highland tradition as taught to her by the late Donald Riddell - who learnt from Alexander Grant of Battangorm, a relative of Sarah-Jane's who made the fiddle she plays, Sarah-Jane has been described as: “destined to stand with the great Scottish fiddlers” (folkwords) Add to this a love of playing the Hardanger fiddle, plus a Masters degree in Norwegian folk music and free improvisation from Oslo’s prestigious Norwegian Academy of Music, and the result is a highly personal, lush Highland fiddle sound with a Nordic edge.
