From the CD Booklet " Alba "

Not exactly a hundred pipers, but certainly only a handful short of 100 dedicated professional musicians came together to make this rather unique recording. The merging of these two giants in their own particular fields of music first came about with " Classical Aid " the Scottish inspired answer to Bob Geldof's " Live Aid " and was a big success.

However, it took another tragedy, some time later to bring them together again. This time to make this more permanent reminder of the great talent of Alex Duthart, the exceptional drum major with the British Caledonian Airways Pipe Band, who died while playing in New York. The opening drum salute was created by Alex ( as were all of the pipe band settings ) and opens up an album that is full of life and creative surprises.
