Biography

Maureen Bell was born and raised in Glasgow. She has a diverse background as a singer, author,broadcaster and partner in a small independant Scottish record label.
Living now in Aberdeenshire she has sung with Aberdeen Opera Company,Haddo House Operatic and Choral Society and the Peterhead Choral Society. Most of her singing though is as a solo soprano at venues as diverse as Aberdeenshire's village halls to the International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales.
Mauren's repertoire extends from classical arias all the way through to folk and Scottish songs. A trained tutor,she once taught song to students of the Scottish Culture and Traditions Association.
Maureen is an accomplished researcher and writer and is the author of two well reviewed books about Scotland's bard Robert Burns.
"Tae the Lassies" is a biography of 40 of the woman in the life of the bard whilst "The Burns Calendar" is a192 page book recounting daily events in the life of Burns and his contemporaries. She is also a major contributor to "The Biographical Dictionary of Scottish Women"
recently published by Edinburgh University Press.
