Dordan
Biography
From the CD Booklet " Jigs to the Moon "
On this, their keenly anticipated second recording the Galway-based group Dordan continue their explorations of the many musical links between Ireland, Europe and other cultures. They interweave their remarkable traditional talents to captivate the listener with the hearty delivery of the dynamics of our traditional music.
They enrich our musical palate with their meticulous arrangements and colourful harmonies to gracefully encapsulate the intricacies and nuances of Baroque music.
The selections to which we are treated on this album are extremely diverse both in origin and in form with pieces from Beethoven. Dussek and Muffat mixing with tunes from Kerry and Clare as well as with the music of Ireland's most renowned harper, Turlough O'Carolan.
Indeed, the polka, jig and reel, sit very comfortably here alongside the sonatina, chaconne, waltz and strathspey, this being due in no small measure to the talents and abilities of MARY BERGIN, DEARBHAILL STANDUN and KATHLEEN LOUGHNANE, the trio who are DORDAN.
