Avalon
Biography
From the CD Booklet " Higher Ground "
It's very difficult to put Avalon into a category that brands their music with a particular label, but on this their third album, the Band show much more of an individual approach to a Celtic Rock style that uses songs of truth and emotion, mixed with some wonderful new tunes. Always breaking new ground, never boring, their music moves from the fast and furious to the warm and tender.
THE WILD CHERRY TREE, PALAIS DE DANCE and ELLIS ISLE all speak of leaving the hardships of the old country and searching for a dream in the new world. Some found it, others never got past the immigration control on Ellis Island, in sight of the Statue of Liberty. Imagine the feeling of seeing New York after crossing the wild Atlantic for days on end. Did they ever think of home again as they struggled to reach higher ground ?
